Aaron Coberly Portrait Painting Demo- June 24, 2pm
May 27, 2023
During the month of June Aaron Coberly will have a new show, "Bringing the Outside In" on display at Fountainhead Gallery. The artist will also be hosting a live portrait painting demo as well!
Aaron Coberly was born in Seattle in 1971 and lived the first half of his childhood in the “Love Israel Family” commune in Arlington, Snohomish County. He has been drawing for as long as he can remember, but began taking art seriously as a teenager after being invited to attend a life drawing class by local artist Dean Williams. When Williams moved to Los Angeles, Aaron followed, working as his assistant. Here, Aaron met his future wife. The couple moved to London and traveled around Europe before returning to the greater Seattle area.
Aaron began oil painting in 1999 and, shortly after the birth of his son, he had his first gallery show in Ballard in 2002. Aaron draws inspiration from the Impressionists and the Old Masters as well as Russian-American painter Nicolai Fechin. For some time, Aaron painted primarily portraits. He now paints mostly landscapes and occasionally works with watercolor.
The act of creating is the most important part of Aaron’s process, allowing him to feel alive in the present moment. His representational paintings play with light, texture, brushstroke, and form to show others the world inside of himself. Through paint, Aaron enjoys taking elements of the existing world and creating a new vision, breaking things down and building them up to form a critical connection with the viewer. By day, Aaron is an art director for video game developer ArenaNet.
The portrait demo is free and open to all ages, stop by and learn from a master at portrait painting!
